ST. JAMES PLANTATION CHAPEL
The next Chapel service is our Christmas Chapel service on Sunday, December 14th at 9:00 am. Our minister is Rev. Bob Lee, a retired Presbyterian pastor, a member of the Southport Presbyterian Church, and he sings with their Chancel Choir. There will be no special music but our organist, Julie Raner, will lead the congregation in playing and singing Christmas Carols.
Third Annual “Carols by Candlelight” Concert
On Thursday, December 18th , the Chapel will be hosting our “Carols by Candlelight” Christmas concert featuring the highly talented St. James singing group, The Treblemakers. We are pleased to announce that once again, there will be two performances – at 5:00 and 7:00 PM – and both will end outside in the Chapel Gardens as we light up the darkness with candles and sing “Silent Night.”
The five o’clock performance usually fills up fast with standing room only by 4:45, but there should be adequate seating at the seven o’clock performance for all attendees. We look forward to seeing all of you, but please plan ahead.
One of the earliest amenities in our community, St. James Plantation Chapel is a tribute to the vision and generosity of Homer Wright. As founder of St. James, Homer built the Chapel to give residents and potential buyers a feeling of community, stability, and direction as they drove along the Green Mile. In 1997, Homer deeded the completed Chapel to a newly created 501(C)3 charitable corporation that is managed by a board of directors.

St. James Chapel hosts Pet Remembrance Day
On Tuesday, June 10th, more than two dozen people attended the first ever Pet Remembrance and Celebration of Life at the Chapel.
Father Bill Eberle, an Episcopal priest and St. James resident, designed and conducted a beautiful service in which pet owners came together to share their fond memories and learn more about the experience of grief after losing a cherished furry friend. As the service ended, attendees viewed a stunning video set to music that featured photos of more than thirty pets that have blessed the lives of local community residents. Many attendees expressed the desire to make this service an annual event.
